Classic Covers
(With Ray Manzarek of The Doors)

classic_covers_cover.jpgClassic Covers is a novelty series intended for rock radio stations to air periodically during the day as a sort of game for their listeners to play. The scripts were written by me and narrated Ray Manzarek of The Doors.

Program Directors interested in airing Classic Covers should contact me or Tom Versen of Blue Sky Productions.

Below is the pitch, followed by the Classic Covers spots:

Classic Covers

"Remember when you were a teenager and you saved enough money to buy the new Led Zeppelin album? Remember how you raced home and put the record on the turntable and sat on the floor in your smoke-filled bedroom gazing with wonder at the universe that was the album cover?

Some of those album covers were the coolest thing you ever saw. Maybe they even introduced you to art in general. After all, who could forget Warhol's glowing yellow banana on the Stones' Sticky Fingers record? Was there any caricature more stunning than the sprawling Vargas girl on the Cars Candy-O album?

Classic covers is a celebration of the days when album art was as much a part of the experience as the music itself, and an homage to the artists, as well as an interactive guessing game to be played by your listeners when they try to guess . . . What was that album cover?
